CAMAC MEMORY STATIC MEMORY MODULES

FEATURES

APPLICATIONS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

All modules are single-width CAMAC SRAM modules which derive power and ground from dataway +6V. No other dataway lines are utilized. Communication is through the rear auxiliary connector. Twenty-bit addressing allows expansion to one Mega word via a PCB switch on each module. A BiRa 5900 Auxiliary Bus is recommended for interconnection for 5903, but a Viking 3VH18 or equivalent PC board edge connector may be daisy-chained. The 59256A requires an Ansley 609-4007 IDC for interconnection. Two front panel LEDs indicate the status of the module: LOAD is illuminated when the module is addressed and is writing data into memory. UNLOAD is illuminated when the module is addressed and data is read from the module. The memory uses a tri-state bus to communicate with the controlling device. The bus drivers have 35mA sink and 20mA drive. All input signals are buffered by High-Speed CMOS(HC) line receivers with hysteresis. Loading is maximum of fifteen LSTTL loads. Speed of operation is directly related to bus length and loading. Settle time and delays must be compensated for by the controlling device.

BATTERY BACKUP OPTION FOR THE MODEL 59256A

The battery backup has optional battery sources, either an internal (Lithium) or external (Lithium or Rechargeable) battery. The battery backup voltage has an operating range of 2.1V to 3.6V when internal and from 2.1V to 6.0V when external. Switch-over voltage from Line to Battery is adjustable. An internal and external low battery indicator LED is also adjustable for different threshold settings. Charging current and battery over-voltage protection ranges are easily changed through interchangeable components thus allowing protection for all battery voltage choices. With the internal battery option the battery backup will retain data in memory over a voltage range from 3.6V down to 2.1V with a standby current of approximately 5mA allowing the internal battery (type TL-5134 from TADIRAN Electronic Industries or type 1000-0 from REMATA LITHIUM) to hold data in memory for 150 hours.

When using an external battery source (Rechargeable) the low battery light (D1) can also be used to indicate when the external battery is fully charged. After power-up, if the external battery is discharged; the indicator (D1) will turn on and stay on until the battery is fully charged. At full charge the low-light (D1) turns off indicating the battery is charged and ready. Charging current and voltage are user-selectable by installation of R5 and D2. Maximum current must not exceed 1 amp. Charging current and voltage vary with different batteries. Check battery specifications for proper charge current and voltage values.
