MODEL VME 7550
VME Summary Interlock and Alarm Module
(SIAM)

FEATURES:
• Single-width 6U, VMEbus-compatible Interlock and Alarm module that may

be connected to sensors or contacts that detect error conditions
• Eight optically isolated fault inputs; if any input fault is present longer than
a predetermined time, a channel fault latch is set
• Fault inputs can be NO or NC contacts or active low or active high level
  sensor outputs
• Fault input level from sensors: "0" = -30V to +1V; "1" = +3V to +30V;
  undefined from +1V to +3V
• Fault inputs can withstand +/- 30V indefinitely, +/- 100V for 30 seconds
• Latched faults can be reset from front panel or by VMEbus when fault
  condition has disappeared
• Each fault input can be inhibited from either front panel or by the VMEbus.
Fault inhibit can be jumper-disabled to prevent inadvertent damage to
  critical subsystems
• Front panel indicators and status register for visual and computer monitoring
• Two optically isolated I&A outputs indicate an uninhibited fault condition
sensed by the module or an upstream SIAM via the Daisy-Chain input
• SIAMs can be daisy-chained for system expansion
• I/O connections to SIAM are made via SIAM I/O (Model 7551) board that plugs into P2
behind backplane. User-defined P2 pins connect I/O lines to SIAM.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Each fault input can be independently configured by an individual personality module via jumpers and resistors.
A programmable time constant determines how long a fault input error condition must be present before it trips the fault latch. The fault latch delay time constant can be set from 250 µs to 105 s. Any fault trip drives the Daisy-Chain output. Systems requiring more than eight fault inputs can be accommodated by concatenating two or more SIAMs via front panel LEMO Daisy-Chain input and Daisy-Chain output connectors. The Daisy Chain input is TTL compatible and the Daisy Chain output is a TTL open-collector output.
