SMART ANALOG MONITOR (SAM) HIGH RESOLUTION AND CMRR
The Bi Ra Model 5305 (SAM) is a single-width CAMAC module with 32 differential channels of slow analog to digital conversion controlled by an internal Z80 microprocessor. Ranging, polarity and calibration are fully automatic.
Data output is floating point in units of volts. The micro continually circulates through the 32 channels measuring DC voltage for each and stores the results in an output buffer.
The measurement process consists of range and polarity acquisition, digital signal averaging over one 60Hz period to remove normal mode AC, gain and offset correction, and conversion of data to floating point format.
Gain range is from 1 to 1024 in steps of 2X so that full scale is from +/-10mv to +/-10.24V. Resolution is 14-bits. Between 0 degrees and 50 degrees C with difference between channels less than 40dB, DC accuracy is 0.05% +/-20 of reading in normal scan mode; fast scan is 0.1% +/-40 of reading.
CMR DC to 60Hz at least 80dB with imbalance 100 ohm. Normal mode plus common mode is less than 10.3V for specified accuracy.Process time is 20ms in normal scan; 16ms for digital filtering, and 4ms for correction and formatting. Total refresh is 0.64 seconds if no ranging or polarity changes occur.
Refresh in the fast mode is 0.12 seconds. During calibration DC is not refreshed and is indicated by X=O if read during that time. Data from previous conversion is still valid and available in the buffer. Calibration is preformed every two minutes. Function Codes

If valid command is issued and processor is not in calibration mode and previous calibration was successful. Front panel LED indicates valid command.

If an N FO AO is issued, the processor is updated buffer, channel address is in the range of 0 to 31, and channel reads occur at least every 75ms for a scan operation.
