GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Bi Ra Model 3224 is a single-width module with two independent 24-bit output registers. Each register may be written and read as a 24-bit entry. In addition, each bit may be individually addressed using the selective set and selective reset commands. Each output is an open collector transistor suitable for driving a relay, lamp, solenoid, or similar device. All outputs share a common return path. The 3224 may be commanded to generate a 5 s output strobe to the front panel connector, 2DA31P. This may be conveniently used as a DATA READY or LATCH signal. The polarity of the strobe is patch selectable.

OUTPUT DIODE PROTECTION

The output protection diode prevents excessive open-circuit voltages when driving inductive loads. The cathode of protection diodes may be tied to 5, 24, or an external voltage from the front panel connector.

OUTPUT DISPLAY

A LED displays the current status of each output line. The LED indicates the status of either type of output, open collector or TTL.
