GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Model 3101-1 is a dual-width module with 15 channels that can be used to control stepping motors or other devices which respond to pulse trains. Each channel has separate UP and DOWN transformer isolated outputs at two 36 pin PC card edge connectors at the rear of the module. Output pulse frequency will accelerate (Ramp up) after a command to output pulses; frequency will decelerate (Ramp down) near the end of counting. Pulses are nominally 0 to 4V peak adjustable 25 to 250m s wide. Ramp parameters are adjustable. Total ramp time from 1.8 to 3.6 seconds, low frequency at the beginning of the ramp from 5 to 200pps. Upper frequency at the end of the ramp may be set between 4 and 16 times the beginning frequency. Internal patch pins select a ramp down point between 127 and 1023 counts remaining in increments of 128 counts. Front panel controls allow dataway or manual operation by the ON LINE / OFF LINE switch. ON LINE allows dataway control to select ADDRESS, and number and direction (DIR) of pulses. OFF LINE enables front panel switches to select number of DATA pulses, ADDRESS (MANUAL by address switch, ALL channels, or SLAVE through the rear PC edge connector) and direction (DIR). In addition the ONE switch generates a single pulse and CON will generate a continuous train of pulses when depressed. Front panel LED indicators are provided for channel address, counts remaining, N, LE, L, BUSY, and direction.

A LAM request is cleared by a write or clear command and set by the count reaching zero. LAM request may be tested. LAM request may be enabled or disabled. On power up the LAM status, LAM enable, and the counter are cleared.

The Model 3101-2 is available with optical isolator outputs. The output will sink up to 16 milliamps from 30 volts.

FUNCTION CODES

COMMAND         Q         ACTION
F1  A0  RD2            1          Read active channel address on R1-R4. R5 if all channels, R6 if ONE LINE.
F8  A0  TLM         LAM      Test if LAM is present.
F10  A0  CLM         1          Reset LAM status.
F17  A0  WT2         1          Write channel address, W1-W4. W5 is all channels. Clears LAM status.
F17  A1  WT2         1          Writes the count down register, W1-W16. Enables UP pulses out. Clears
                                            LAM status.
F17  A2  WT2         1          Same as F17 A1 except enables DOWN pulses out.
F24  A0  DIS           1          Disable LAM request.
F26  A0  ENB         1          Enables LAM request.
F27  A0  TST      BUSY      Test BUSY (counter not zero).
Z              CZ           0          Clears LAM status, LAM request, and counter.
C             CC           0          Clears LAM status and counter.
X                                         Valid for all addressed commands.
