General Description

The BiRa Model 5877 is a dual wide, dual channel,
16-bit DC high voltage DAC, CAMAC module. This module
was designed at BiRa for use at LLNL. Each channel
is capable of 267Vdc @ 50ma. One channel is of
positive polarity and one negative. The module
includes all Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) components.

Software Description

CAMAC COMMANDS

F0 A0 Þ Reads last entered data for positive high voltage channel.
"X" is returned if command is valid and "Q" is returned
if the positive high voltage power supply is enabled.

F0 A1 Þ Reads last entered data for negative high voltage channel
after hardware inversion. "X" is returned if command is valid
and "Q" is returned if the negative high voltage power supply
is enabled.

F16 A0 Þ Loads the positive high voltage channel 16-bit DAC register.
"X" is returned if the command is valid.

F16 A1 Þ Loads the negative high voltage channel 16-bit DAC register.
"X" is returned if command is valid.

F24 A0 Þ Disables the positive high voltage power supply. "X" is
returned if command is valid.

F24 A1 Þ Disables the negative high voltage power supply. "X" is
returned if command is valid.

F25 A0 Þ Enables the positive high voltage power supply. "X" is
returned if command is valid.

F25 A1 Þ Enables the negative high voltage power supply. "X" is
returned if command is valid.

The digital input code in hex for CAMAC writes are :

Full Scale Þ 7FFF
3/4 Scale Þ 4000
Half Scale Þ 0000
1/4 Scale Þ C000
Zero Þ 8000

Note : (267/2 to the 16th ) – 1 is divided into the desired voltage.

Test data for "CAMAC Code", "Output Voltage", "Vmon" and
"Imon" for both supplies in 28 steps of 10V increments can be found in
Appendix C.
